Paint it louder than it looked

Ines Marchetti was born in Genoa in 1986 and has painted in Marseille since 2014, in a fourth floor studio above a hardware shop.

She works fast and in layers, with palette knives, house brushes and her hands. Each painting starts from a place she knows well, the port at noon, a market, the sea off Frioul, and keeps only what the place felt like. Titles are the last thing she paints.

Her work hangs in homes in fourteen countries, in two hotels on the coast and in one very patient dentist's waiting room.

Studio visits are welcome on Thursdays. Write first.
